All text content of this wiki is available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA). This license allows anyone to reuse, modify, and distribute all text found at this wiki, with two requirements:

  • Attribution: the original author must be credited, at minimum by a link to the original page.
  • Share Alike: derivative works may only be licensed under a same, similar or a compatible license as CC-BY-SA.

Human-readable information on this license is available here, as well as the full legal code.

Media

Non-text content (images, audio files, video files) may be available under other licenses. Licensing and copyright information should be specified on the file's description page.

Importing text

If you want to import text that you have found elsewhere or that you have co-authored with others, you can only do so if it is available under terms that are compatible with the CC-BY-SA license. Furthermore, please note that you cannot import information which is available only under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). In other words, you may only import text that is (a) single-licensed under terms compatible with the CC-BY-SA license or (b) dual-licensed with the GFDL and another license with terms compatible with the CC-BY-SA license. Wikipedia, for example, is dual-licensed with the CC-BY-SA license and the GFDL, and is therefore available to import from.

If you import text under a compatible license which requires attribution (eg. text from Wikipedia), you must, in a reasonable fashion, credit the author(s). Where such credit is commonly given through page histories (such as Wikimedia-internal copying), it is sufficient to give attribution in the edit summary, which is recorded in the page history, when importing the text. When importing from Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, a URL to the original page is considered sufficient attribution. To illustrate, this section was copied and adapted from Wikimedia's Terms of Use using this same attribution method.

Regardless of the license, the text you import may be rejected if the required attribution is deemed too intrusive.

History

Prior to July 28, 2009, this wiki's text content was licensed under the GFDL. To allow copying to and from Wikipedia, among other reasons, the community decided to re-license the content under the CC-BY-SA license, as specifically allowed in GFDL 1.3. The discussion and vote can be found at Licensing update and Talk:Licensing update. The update on July 28, 2009 legally re-licensed all text content on this wiki, and so all text content, including content added before that date, is no longer available under the GFDL.
