The ping pong guy, as he was seen on the Main Page advertising this month's WikiWednesday.

The Wiki Wednesday of July 1st, 2009 was small and discussion-heavy. About 10 of us converged at the AboutUs offices. This meeting basically consisted of talking and eating.

The food:

  • pizza
  • kettle chips
  • apples
  • beer
  • root beer
  • oreos
  • probably other things

The discussion:

  • WikiCity
  • CamelCase
  • Google Wave
  • Bing
  • The future of print media
  • Twitter feeds during Iran election controversy
  • PBWorks
  • WikiWikiWeb
  • Fort Wiki
  • probably other things

Ward Cunningham (He Who From All Wikis Came) joined us and gave his insight on various things. John Stanton, creator of Fort Wiki, also joined us and spoke about his experiences with his own wiki. Joining us for the last time unfortunately was Denise Cheng, New Media director for Portland Community Media, who is moving to Michigan.

Unfortunately, there was, despite the advertising, no ping pong.

Announcements

  • Abraham is putting together a conference to discuss technology and the future of journalism in August.
  • If there is interest, we're invited to watch the 4th of July fireworks from a raised patio or something at the AboutUs offices. I don't know, talk to Mark Dilley.
